MEN'S BASEBALL
It was a difficult week for the Panther baseball team. For the most part, the bats went silent and Palm Beach suffered something they have not been through in over 2 years, they lost 4 in a row. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Panthers were defeated by conference foe Broward 5-3 and 6-0 to even their conference record at 4-4. Palm Beach had a chance to get back into the conference race Friday and Saturday when they went up against the #1 ranked team in the State/#3 in the country, Miami Dade, but came up just a little bit short losing 4-3 on Friday and 6-5 on Saturday. The Panthers did show some life in the Saturday Miami Dade game when they were down 6-1 in the ninth - their bats came alive and they plated 4 runs to get to 6-5. However, with 2 on and nobody out, Palm Beach could not get the tying run across - which has been the case in their up and down season. With the week's losses, the "Boy of Summer" are now 19-12 on the season and 4-6 in the conference. They resume conference play on Tuesday against Indian River State.
WOMEN'S SOFTBALL
Palm Beach State softball split a pair of double headers last week as they defeated Kishwaukee College 9-0 and 5-1 on Monday March 11 to gain their 5th and 6th wins of the year. On Wednesday March 13, the #1 team in the country - Indian River State College out of Ft. Pierce - visited the Panthers and the Panthers were no match for the Pioneers on this day as they were defeated 11-1 and 13-1. Palm Beach State currently stands at 6-30 overall and 1-3 in the Southern conference.
