Palm Beach State College is committed to providing a work environment that is safe, professional, and respectful toward all of our students, employees, and visitors. To further this effort, all regular full-time employees, regular part-time employees are required to complete the following training sessions within their first 30 days of employment.

(1) Legal and Ethical Issues in Higher Education – This two-part online training is provided by Workplace Answers.  You will receive an email from them containing a user name and password.  Login to complete the following two courses. *Supervisors of OPS or student workers, please contact CollegeLearning@palmbeachstate.edu to add new employees.  All regular full-time and part-time employees, as well as adjuncts, will automatically be enrolled.

a. Discrimination and Harassment Prevention for Higher Education–This training has been developed to assist in furthering an organizational culture that embraces and respects individual differences. The training introduces learners to harassment prevention law and the protected categories of worker, explains how to identify and stop unlawful harassment in the workplace and outlines employee responsibilities regarding harassment prevention and reporting.

b. Title IX, VAWA and Clery Act for Faculty and Staff – On March 7, 2013, President Obama signed the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization (VAMA), and the Campus Sexual Violence Act (SaVE Act) included in Section 304 of VAMA.  In accordance with this Act, Palm Beach State College provides training to all employees and students to increase awareness and prevention of rape, acquaintance rape, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

c. FERPA for Higher Education – The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. This takes about 20 minutes to complete.


(2) Safety Training

The training is provided during the in-class Onboarding session. If you attended the morning portion of Onboarding, you will receive credit for Safety Training.


(3) Information Security Training

This training includes several modules averaging 3 minutes in length. The Information Security Manager will provide you with a login via email.  This login will allow you to complete the modules at a time that is convenient for you and resume the session where you left off if you are unable to complete the training in one sitting.

 

Adjunct Training


(1) Legal and Ethical Issues in Higher Education – This three-part online training is provided by Workplace Answers.  You will receive an email from them containing a user name and password.  Login to complete the following courses.

      a. Discrimination and Harassment Prevention for Higher Education

      b. Title IX, VAWA and Clery Act for Faculty and Staff

      c. FERPA for Higher Education


(2) Safety Training

For Adjunct professionals and others who do not attend Onboarding, please follow link below with special instructions to complete the training via Blackboard.   Safety Online Training Instructions


(3) Securing the Human: Information Security Training

The Information Security Manager will provide you with a login via email.  This login will allow you to complete the modules at a time that is convenient for you and resume the session where you left off if you are unable to complete the training in one sitting.
