Belle Glade Cohort
The Patient Care Assistant Program is happy to announce that they will be hosting a condensed, six week, PCA program at the Belle Glade Campus in the Summer of 2017!
The Belle Glade PCA program will include three courses (outlined below) that comprises
the 165 program contact hours required to complete the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)
portion of the PCA program. Students will be eligible to sit for the Florida certification
exam for certified nursing assistants at the completion of this program. The HHA (Home
Health Aide) and PCA (Patient Care Assistant) portions of the PCA program are NOT
included in this Belle Glade program, however these sections will still offered at
the Lake Worth campus for those students who wish to take those courses and complete
the entire PCA program.
The courses being offered in this cohort are as follows:
- HSC0003- Health Care Concepts (78 contact hours)
- HSC0003L- Health Care Concepts Lab (12 contact hours)
- HCP0120- Nursing Assistant (75 contact hours)
Program Facts & Deadlines
Program Entry Deadline: July 3, 2017
Program Length: The program is six weeks long, starting July 19, 2017 and ending August 29, 2017.
Program Clock/Contact Hours: The program consists of 165 clock hours.
Program Location: Belle Glade campus (Students will attend Clinicals at medical facilities throughout Palm Beach County)
Program Schedule: Classroom hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Clinical hours are usually 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Instructors & Facilities: Students receive instruction by industry-credentialed professionals. Lab classes are held in a modern hospital-type learning environment, utilizing current equipment and technology, including up-to-date medical records software.
Program Costs: As a public institution, Palm Beach State's tuition is affordable. Currently, the approximate cost of the Patient Care Assistant cohort at Belle Glade for Florida residents is about $1,200, which includes tuition, textbooks, criminal background and drug screening), physical examination, immunizations, and uniforms and name badge. Out-of-state residents pay a higher tuition and all costs are subject to change. Tuition and other costs are reviewed at our Information Sessions.
Financial Aid: Financial aid is not available for this program.
Graduation Certificate: Graduates of the Patient Care Assistant program will receive a Postsecondary Adult Vocational Certificate (PSAV).
Professional Certification/Licensure: Students who graduate from this Patient Care Assistant program cohort at Belle Glade will have the required contact hours needed to work as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
Accreditation: The Palm Beach State's Patient Care Assistant program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.
