Afterschool providers serving school age children 5 years and up through grade 5 must complete: Part I: School Age Child Care Certification and Part II: Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Principles.
Part I: School Age Child Care Certification (28 Hours) HEV0803
This course fulfills Part I of II Parts required to complete the 40-Hour School Age Child Care Training mandated by the Department of Children and Families. This course provides training on rules and regulations-center based; identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect; health, safety and nutrition; and school age appropriate practices. This course focuses on how to ensure that children are healthy, safe and happy in their school age programs.
Part I requires that the participant pass a competency exam with a score of 70% or higher given by Department of Children & Families.

This certification fulfills the remaining 12 hours of training required by the state for afterschool providers serving school age children ages 5 and up (through grade 5). This training will introduce afterschool providers to a specialized school age curriculum focusing on the stages of development for children ages 5 and up.
Students are required to successfully pass, with a score of 70 percent or better, the exam for Part II Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) administered during the last class session.

DCF Registration & Competency Exam Information:
Taking one of the state-mandated child care training courses requires that you also register for your course in the DCF database system. This ensures that there is an official record of your taking the class. Registration for this class needs to be completed by your second class session (or before). This is the first out of class assignment and students will be required to show proof of DCF registration by the second class session. Note: If your class only meets once you will need to complete this process and submit proof of registration at the first class session.
At this point you will be prompted to enter your personal information. Then, under Course Reference Number, enter your Palm Beach State College reference # and click Find.
Your registration process is now complete. Note: You do not pay for this course through the DCF system, you pay for it through the college's Panther Web.
