Palm Beach State College offers art, graphic design, interior design, motion picture and television, music and theatre academic programs as well as the professional galleries and theatre programming. These academic or leisure pursuits are concerned with man, creativity and culture. The efforts of the academic programs, galleries and theatres seek to explore and understand what it means to be a creative and expressive human. We are dedicated to a collaborative effort between faculty and students to enhance the quality of an arts education.

In support of Palm Beach State College’s mission, the mission of the Humanities Division
is to provide a broad fine and performing arts education emphasizing the knowledge,
skills and attitudes necessary for employment and/or personal growth through comprehensive
curriculums which nurtures an appreciation of creative arts through exhibitions, concerts,
performances, exposure to a variety of styles and mentoring under the direction of
a recognized, knowledgeable, and experienced faculty and staff.
The philosophy of the Palm Beach State College Visual and Performing Arts Programs is to inspire our students to actively pursue Design and Performance Excellence, while creating a climate of learning and discovery, and preparing them for success in a professional environment. Also, our programs strive to provide a clearer understanding of the human condition and our struggle to find meaningful and positive connection in an increasingly diverse and polarized global community.
Classroom & Studios
The Palm Beach State College Art Department is located in Humanities Building. The Humanities Building houses computer studios as well as faculty offices, The Gallery at Lake Worth Campus, and classrooms of various sizes equipped for audiovisual projection for art slides and internet access for classes. There are studios for painting and drawing, as well as facilities for an open computer lab with Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, QuarkXpress, Dreamweaver, Flash and other animation software.
The Palm Beach State College Motion Picture Department is new to the Lake Worth campus. This program is tentatively being located in the Count and Countess De Hoernle Technology Center which houses classroom with audiovisual projection and internet access and storage spaces. HU208 is the newest expansion for this program equipped with audiovisual projection and internet access for classes. This room also serves as an open lab for students with faculty offices near by. Studio space will be housed at a local partner with Palm Beach State.
The Palm Beach State College Theatre Department is located in Humanities Building. The Humanities Building houses the theatre classroom designed to resemble a Black Box Theatre, sound and Light booth, as well as faculty offices. The theatre program performs in the Watson B. Duncan Theatre, Stage West and HU114. The Theatre program is proud to boast that the classroom and performance spaces are equipped for audiovisual projection and internet access.
