Timely Warning - Lake Worth campus
Attempted Robbery by Sudden Snatching “Apple Picking”
On Monday November 14, 2016 at approximately 6:35pm, a PBSC Lake Worth campus student reported to the LW campus Security Office that she was walking on the sidewalk near the west side of the Administrative Building at 6:20pm. She was replying to a text message when an unknown subject running in the opposite direction grabbed her iPhone. After a brief struggle, the student victim was able to retain her phone with some slight damage to the phone’s case. Our Video Surveillance System (VSS) has thus far captured the subject running down the walkways between the library and then in the vicinity of the TE and NS buildings. The subject was also observed via VSS taking his black shirt off, leaving a white t-shirt visible as he fled the campus to Congress Avenue in the vicinity of the ETB complex.
The victim student was not injured during the incident and there is no indication the suspect was armed. Our last reported incident of robbery by sudden snatching at LWC occurred on 9/30/2014.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Lake Worth Security Office at (561) 868-3600 or the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office at (561) 688-3400.
