TRiO Talent Search is a FREE program through the U.S. Department of Education for eligible middle and high school students at target schools in Palm Beach County.

The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youths from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in postsecondary education institutions of their choice. The TS/TRiO program is 100% federally funded at $240,000.00 annually.

- Potential first generation college student (defined as neither parent or guardian,
with whom the student is living, has graduated from college with a baccalaureate degree.)
*Two-thirds of our participants must meet both of these requirements.
- Currently enrolled at one of our participating target schools.
- A US citizen or permanent resident and the necessary documentation for proof or a letter of intent for residency from INS.
Parents: Please complete all necessary documentation by deadlines marked on your acceptance packet, or your child may be put on a waiting list.

Talent Search Tips
Remember that your grades are very important and that your Talent Search Staff wants you to excel academically. Parents please contact your child's advisor, if you feel your child needs assistance.
Your 9th grade year grades will affect your GPA which you will need to apply for college and obtain scholarships. Make your homework and assignments your first priority. If you need help, please talk to your TRiO advisor.
If you plan on staying in Florida for College, please be mindful of the Bright Futures Scholarship requirements. Bright Futures Scholarship will cover between 75% -100% of your tuition at any public Florida institution in addition to any scholarship or financial assistance that you may be qualified for. Please talk to your TRiO advisor about your high school graduation requirements.
Do you have a 3.0 GPA at the end of your 9th grade year? You may want to look into dual enrollment. This gives you an opportunity to start college while in high school. The credits will count for both high school and college.
Plan early to make your last year of high school more pleasant!
Start researching colleges of interest on www.CollegeBoard.org. The website will give you a breakdown of deadlines, enrollment information, demographics, and cost of attendance at each school.
Please confirm that the college/colleges of your choice, accepts/accept fee waiver for your application/applications.
Every year thousands of dollars in scholarships money go unclaimed. It takes time and effort to apply for as many scholarships as you may be eligible for.
