Do you need studio art experience to take a studio course? No. Introductory level courses are designed to accommodate students with a broad range of experience.

What can I do with studio art experience upon graduation? Our program asks students to think critically and to synthesize ideas and materials creatively; these skills are invaluable in most aspects of life. Many of our majors and minors further their academic career and go on to become professional artists, teachers, museum curators, art critic, art buyer, art therapy, art restoration, art gallery owners and art exhibitors.

Am I required to present a portfolio before admission? No, you will not be required to prepare a portfolio in order to enroll. The Studio Art Department has an 'open door' policy, welcoming any student who has an interest in the Studio Arts. Individual professors may be interested in seeing some of your previous work. A portfolio review will not affect a student's potential for admission to the College.
