Program Objective Code: 5373

Afterschool providers serving school age children 5 years and up through grade 5 must complete: Part I: School Age Child Care Certification and Part II: Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Principles.

Part I: School Age Child Care Certification (28 Hours) HEV0803
This course fulfills Part I of II Parts required to complete the 40-Hour School Age Child Care Training mandated by the Department of Children and Families. This course provides training on rules and regulations-center based; identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect; health, safety and nutrition; and school age appropriate practices. This course focuses on how to ensure that children are healthy, safe and happy in their school age programs.

Part I requires that the participant pass a competency exam with a score of 70% or higher given by Department of Children & Families.

Part II: Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Principles HEV0804
This certification fulfills the remaining 12 hours of training required by the state for afterschool providers serving school age children ages 5 and up (through grade 5). This training will introduce afterschool providers to a specialized school age curriculum focusing on the stages of development for children ages 5 and up.

Students are required to successfully pass, with a score of 70 percent or better, the exam for Part II Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) administered during the last class session.

Prime Time offers support to Afterschool Professionals who are presently working in an Afterschool Program. Prime Time offers scholarships to management and frontline professionals employed in an afterschool program working with school-age children.
