Welcome to the Palm Beach State College chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges!.jpg)
We are your local connection to the Association of Florida Colleges, which is headquartered in Tallahassee and represents more than 8,000 members. AFC is unique because it is the only organization that represents the employees and retirees from the 28 colleges in the Florida College System. Among its most important responsibilities is to serve as our voice on pertinent legislative issues.
As a chapter, we align our programs with the goals and initiatives of the state organization, providing scholarships, professional development, advocacy and networking opportunities for our more than 420 members.
Our chapter programs include the Annual Book Sale, which is held in April during National Library Week and serves as our major scholarship fundraiser. Since 2003, we have awarded $19,730 in scholarships to our members and their families. As employees of an institution of higher learning, we also believe it is vitally important to serve the community, and we do that through such programs as Paint Your Heart Out and participation in other community activities.
Several of our members also are actively involved on the state level, serving as presenters at state conferences and leaders in various commissions. For our efforts, our chapter was designated as a "platinum chapter" last year by the AFC Board of Directors.
We hope you will join us! We are expecting another banner year, but it will take all of us working together to make a great chapter even greater.
Sincerely,
Tabatha B. McDonald, M.S. AFC Chapter President
