There are many benefits for the student who participates in Honors activities. These include academic achievement in a highly stimulating environment, a mentoring relationship with the instructor, and an opportunity to develop patterns of academic excellence. You also increase their chances for transfer scholarships. Whether you plan to continue on to a university or enter the workforce directly, participation in Honors demonstrates that you will not settle for anything but the best.
You are encouraged to attend the national, regional and local Honors conferences. A group of faculty, students attend each conference and have a great time! Best of all, Palm Beach State College funds these events! Think about your resume! When you apply to colleges and universities from Palm Beach State, a tangible benefit of conference participation is that you distinguish yourself as having been selected to represent Palm Beach State.
Students who graduate from Palm Beach State with 12 hours or more of honors coursework, while maintaining a "B" in honors activities and a minimum 3.5 overall GPA are eligible for honors graduation. You will receive a gold Honors seal on your diploma, be noted in the commencement bulletin, and be presented with an Honors medallion. To receive these graduation benefits, you must fill out and submit the Honors Graduation Application to Academic Services prior to graduation.
