The Environment and Energy Technology Track, sponsored by the Palm Beach State College Environmental Science Technology program, is proud to be involved for its third year with the Math Science Institute. The Environment and Energy Technology Track teaches students the diverse applications for Geospatial Technology and its many applications for saving the planet.
Not sure what Geospatial Technology is?
Have you ever used a GPS device and wondered how it finds your location?
If you have ever visited Google Earth or downloaded directions, you have used a form of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. It is a powerful application that links together any type of data that can be referenced to a specific location on the globe.
Now to put this tool into action, students in the Math Science Institute were given an opportunity to apply it to local environmental issues. Below you will see some excellent examples of STUDENT WORK, utilizing GIS as a tool to learn more about the resources we eagerly want to protect. These students published their works. A great accomplishment for a college student.
