Get started on your college-level math requirements right away and save a semester of time and money.
What is Fast Track Algebra?
Fast Track Algebra (MAC1105C) is a 4-credit College Algebra course that is designed for students who have not taken the prerequisite 4-credit Intermediate Algebra but who are ready to start their college-level College Algebra course.
Fast Track Algebra includes 1 credit of an extra component that provides a review of only the specific math skills and concepts that are required for success in the College Algebra material on an as-needed basis. Before you begin each section of the College Algebra material, you will be presented with exactly the math skills that will be using, along with support for study skills and self-management.
What is the advantage of taking Fast Track Algebra?
Students who are suited for Fast Track Algebra will save time and money, completing the College Algebra course that is required for their pathway in 4 credits and 1 semester rather than 7 credits and 2 semesters. Taking Fast Track Algebra eliminates the requirement to take the usual prerequisite 4-credit Intermediate Algebra course and move right into the college-level mathematics course that is required for your pathway.
Who should take Fast Track Algebra?
Students who are suited to take Fast Track Algebra are those who:
- Need to take College Algebra for their educational pathway at Palm Beach State College
- Would normally be assigned to a prerequisite Intermediate Algebra course
- Have a PERT score of at least 118*
* Students who have not taken the PERT exam may consider taking this exam at the Testing Center before making the decision to register for the two semester Intermediate Algebra/College Algebra sequence as this may save time and money. If you have taken your PERT exam you may register for this class. If not, see an advisor to see if Fast Track Algebra is suitable for your educational pathway. | Make an appointment to take the PERT exam
