HOO0130 - Basic EKG for Health Care Professionals

Course Description:
This course is an introduction to EKG monitoring and rhythm interpretation. It is intended for the health care professional who has a background in anatomy and physiology and patient care. The participant will learn to correctly apply the monitor leads and obtain monitor strips, as well as interpret the strip for rate and rhythm. The criteria for basic normal and abnormal rhythms will be taught. Ample practice will ensure accuracy. Clinical correlation will include discussions of the pathophysiology and hemodynamics of various cardiac rhythms, as well as some of the treatment options. This course will be kept on a level suitable for the student with little or no previous EKG training, but does require minimal skill set. Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required. Textbook required.
