CCJ1618 - Criminal Psychology (AA)
Credits/Clock Hours:
3 credits (3 lecture hours)
Description:
Criminal Justice is all about human behavior, and behavioral science has always sought
to understand the "criminal mind." This course introduces students to the theory and
practice of modern criminal psychology. Students will understand the major theories
and models of criminal behavior and the major classes of psychopathology that are
associated with criminal activity. These insights are then applied to the major crime
classifications to form an integrative model of criminal psychology. Students will
learn how this model is applied to the practical work of law enforcement and criminal
justice professionals who investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate crimes involving
questions of choice, action, free will, mental status and mental disorder.
