Janet Naughton is a Faculty Librarian and History Professor at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth. She previously served as the Archivist and Historian for the Boynton Beach City Library and the Delray Beach Historical Society. Janet holds master’s degrees in both Library and Information Studies and American History, along with a graduate certificate in Community College Leadership and Teaching. She is an award-winning author of many Florida history books and publications and past president of the Boynton Beach Historical Society.
In her academic role, Professor Naughton teaches United States History and Honors College courses, in addition to Information Literacy and Research Methodology classes, offering instruction through in-person, live online, and fully online formats. She actively promotes historical scholarship by conducting research for numerous projects, including history publications, programs, films, and plays. She volunteers as a tour guide at a historic Florida cemetery, and lectures state-wide on a range of historical topics.
Her professional interests encompass library outreach and advocacy, information literacy, assessment, academic integrity, and gamification. Her research also focuses on the social and economic history of the United States, as well as the history of Florida, Palm Beach County, and environmental and architectural history.
