OPENING DEPARTMENT LOGO

You must include the Palm Beach State College Film Department logo at the beginning of your film. You can obtain a copy of the video clip by requesting it from the Post-Production Supervisor, Kat Brady, by email at bradyk@palmbeachstate.edu. You may not adjust the size, brightness, color, contrast, speed, duration, or add effects of any kind to the video clip.


OPENING TITLES

The use of the phrase, “A film by” is not permitted in any variation. That includes wording such as: “A Joe Smith Production; A Joe Smith Film; Joe Smith Productions; Joe Smith Films” etc. No “presentation” credit in any form is allowed. This includes; “Joe Smith presents; Smith Production Company presents” etc.

You may include the title of your film in any size, font, and style that you choose.


OPENING CREDITS

You may include opening credits in any size, font, and style that you choose. However, you should keep in mind the readability of your credits and consider the size, font, number of lines, and the placement on the screen.


COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER

All projects remain the property of the Palm Beach State College Film Department, with copyrights being held by same.

The standard Copyright Disclaimer must appear at the end of the film for at least 4 seconds either as a still card (not scrolling). The text must be white and appear on a black background. The font must be Times New Roman Regular. All text must be centered and appear in the middle of the frame. You must include the text from the example below.

Example:
The persons, places, and events depicted in this movie are fictitious.
Any similarities to persons, living or dead is merely coincidental.
TITLE OF THE FILM

TITLE OF THE FILM: In all capital letters, type the full title of the film.
Copyright Date: After the copyright symbol, type the year that the film was completed.
On a Mac, press and hold the Option key then press G to insert the copyright symbol ©.


TITLE APPROVAL

All titles and credits must be accurate prior to turning in your film project at the end of the semester. If you have questions or if you are in doubt – ask.


END CREDITS GUIDELINES

The ending credits may be in any size, font, and style that you choose. However, you should keep in mind the readability of your credits and consider the size, font, number of lines, and the placement on the screen.

What follows is a sample format for a Palm Beach State Film student production. In this example, the Title Card appears at the head of the film and all other credits appear at the end of the project. It is not the only acceptable way of doing your titles but it is the recommended format for short films.

End Credits for “My Short Film” (Example Title):
