The Call for Nominations for the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Awards has been extended to November 5, 2012!
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Awards were established by Palm Beach State College to honor individuals and organizations that have made major innovative contributions toward improving the lives of others, particularly the underserved, through leadership, service and/or programs. These contributions can include the areas of education, diversity, race relations, social justice and economic empowerment.

Please note: If the nominee is selected for the Award, you will be required to submit a high resolution photograph and a biography of the candidate (350-360 words) by November 30, 2012.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Individual or Organization:
An individual/organization who has improved the quality of life particularly for underserved populations; whose courage or innovation has contributed to the transformation of racial, economic and/or social injustices; and/or has worked for change through non-violent means and demonstrated commitment to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Palm Beach State Alumni:
The nominee must be a Palm Beach State College graduate who holds a degree or PSAV certificate. The nominee must be an alumnus/alumna who has performed exemplary service on behalf of others or whose accomplishments have greatly improved the quality of life for his/her community and who, by example, has served as a role model for the underserved.
Palm Beach State Student:
The nominee currently must be enrolled in a Palm Beach State College degree or PSAV certificate program and must have completed at least one term with an overall 2.5 GPA and/or satisfactory completion. The student must have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and significantly contributed to the betterment of the community.
SUBMISSION OF NOMINATION PACKET AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
The packet must include ALL of the following:
- Completed Nomination Form - print out to complete
- Letter of nomination (one page only) - a summary of why the nominee should be recognized
- Two signed letters, based on the eligibility criteria, supporting the nomination - Examples of contribution: volunteerism, creation of initiative, population impact and personal commitment to local community
- Detailed documentation demonstrating contribution made (i.e. news articles, sample of work, event flyers - limit to 5 pages)
Nomination packets must be hand-delivered, postmarked or submitted electronically
by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 to be considered.
