"True hula is the quintessential expression of Hawaiian cultural values," notes director Michael Pang.
Halau Hula Ka No'eau with deep roots in tradition is dedicated to preserving and performing traditional hula, a dance style called hula ku'i passed down from late hula master Maiki Aiu Lake. This styling is reflected in the gentle mannerisms and courtly dances of the Hawaiian Monarchy during the late 1800s. The evening also includes pieces focused on kahiko (ancient) and auana (contemporary) hula.

The Company, performing a diverse repertory by the foremost choreographers of our time as well as emerging artists, looks to a vibrant future that explores, preserves, and celebrates Latino cultures through dance. The works fuse Latin dance with classical and contemporary techniques to create a new style of concert dance in which theatricality and passion propel every move. The choreographers represent a multitude of nationalities including Venezuela, Cuba, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
