National Library Week

April 7 - 13, 2024  |  Theme: "Ready, Set, Library!"

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is an annual observance by ALA and libraries across the country each April.

National Library Week celebrations include:

  • April 8: Right to Read Day (Release of ALA’s State of America’s Libraries Report)
  • April 9: National Library Workers Day
  • April 10: National Library Outreach Day
  • April 11: Take Action for Libraries Day

Lake Worth Campus Week Activities

  • April 8, All Day, 3rd Floor: Blind Date With a Book. Find the blind date library display and choose your next read based only on the first line. Will you find your literary match?
  • April 9, All Day, 3rd Floor: Match the Library Worker With Their Favorite Book
  • April 10, All Day, 3rd Floor: Library Jenga
  • April 10, 4:30PM-6:30PM, 3rd Floor Lab: Movie Showing of "The Public" (Snacks Provided)

 

Palm Beach Gardens Campus Week Activities

  • April 8, All Day: Blind Date With a Book. Find the blind date library display and choose your next read based only on the first line. Will you find your literary match?
  • April 9, All Day: Create a Bookmark. Visit the library and relax while creating a bookmark for your textbook or favorite read.
  • April 10, All Day: #PhotoReady. Climb into the pages of a book and take a selfie or group picture with friends. Oh, the Place You'll Go!
  • April 11, 2-4pm: Library Scavenger Hunt...With A Rubber Duck! How well do you know the library? Test your skills to find the answers...with help from Sherduck Holmes! Sign up at the Library's Circulation Desk.

 

National Library Week Activities

The American Library Association will release its list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2023. The list follows ALA's recent unveiling of data showing record-shattering attempts to remove books from school and public libraries, and it shows us what types of books are being challenged the most and why.  |  Learn More

National Library Workers Day is a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.  Learn More

 

Nominate a Stellar Library Worker

Nominations may come from library users, students, children, colleagues, faculty, or management. 

National Library Outreach Day, formerly National Bookmobile Day, is a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.  Learn More
