Karen Roberts, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Karen has over thirty years of progressively responsible experience in both the private, public, and not for profit sectors, starting her career with Pratt and Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation.
For the past fourteen years she has supported management and employees of the Area Agency on Aging, a dynamic local private non profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of elders, disabled adults and their caregivers. As Director of Human Resources she is responsible for all aspects of HR including the Agency’s risk management initiatives.
Karen is a past president of the HR Association of Palm Beach County (HRPBC) and in October 2016 was awarded one of only three Life Time Achievement awards bestowed to date.
Academic preparation includes a BS degree in Finance from Stetson University in Deland Florida, and an MBA from FAU. She also has earned certificates in HR Management from Barry University in Miami and on-line from Capella University.
Karen is also very active in the following organizations: she serves as Board Chair of Inspirit (a Palm Beach County nonprofit dedicated to bringing the gift of live music to those in restricted environments); is a member of Palm Beach County’s Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae Group; and is a member of Stetson University’s College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board.
Karen is also proud to serve as an adjunct professor at Palm Beach State College.
Kivette Sinclair is a Human Resources Professional of upwards of ten (10) years. Prior to entering the field of human resources, Kivette worked both in the financial sector as well as the legal field structuring corporate finance transactions for funds in excess of US$5million while on occasion acting as Receiver/Manager for debenture holding institutions. Her experience includes working as a part of a senior management integration team which facilitated the process of incorporating best practices for merged financial institutions. Kivette practices human resources both in the United States of America as well as in the Caribbean (Jamaica). She is a professional member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has been a member of that organization since 2008.
Kivette holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Management & Production/The University Council of Jamaica and also a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the Florida International University (FIU) where she received the academic award for excellence. She is certified by the Society for Human Resources Management as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and also by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Kivette is presently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Global Organizational Leadership.
Kivette volunteers her time to her local Church; serving as the Communications Director, Sabbath School Secretary and Assistant Church Clerk. She has two (2) children; one aged twenty-one (21) and the other aged nineteen (19. Her hobbies include reading and writing short stories.

Is the cost of the exam included with course registration?
The cost of the course does not include the certification examination fee. SHRM requires that each person apply for the certification exam individually and the payment for the application fee and exam are paid at the time of application.
