Janet Naughton is a Faculty Librarian and History Professor at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida. She teaches United States History, Honors College courses, and Information Literacy and Research classes, helping students develop research skills, evaluate information critically, and connect the past to contemporary issues.
Before joining Palm Beach State College, she served as Archivist and Historian for the Boynton Beach City Library and the Delray Beach Historical Society, where she worked to preserve and share local history. She holds master's degrees in Library and Information Studies and American History, as well as a graduate certificate in Community College Leadership and Teaching.
Professor Naughton's interests include student-centered learning, information literacy, library outreach, and Florida history. She is an active researcher and public historian whose projects have included publications, public programs, films, and theatrical productions. She frequently speaks on Florida and Palm Beach County history and volunteers as a tour guide at a historic Florida cemetery.
Her work has been recognized by several professional and community organizations, and she was awarded continuing contract status at Palm Beach State College in 2021.
