Upcoming Exhibition | HU Building
Please join us as the Fine Arts and Graphic Design department presents two exhibits with an Opening Reception on Nov. 6 from 7 p.m. for both "Art Math Love: Laura Heath" in the HU Gallery and "Faculty Spotlight: Florida Summer" by Professor Kristin Miller in the HU Building hallway.
"Art Math Love: Laura Heath"
November 6 - December 11, 2025
Opening Reception Thursday Nov. 6, 5 - 7 p.m.
Laura Heath has long been inspired by the intersection of art and math. After a 30-year career as a math teacher and professor, she retired to fully pursue her passion for art, exploring patterns, geometry, and three-dimensional creations using accessible materials like paper. Her upcoming solo show, ArtMathLove, celebrates this fusion, reflecting both her mathematical precision and playful creativity. Laura also welcomes collaborations and community connections through events, partnerships, and her social media platforms.
Faculty Spotlight: "Florida Summer" by Kristin Miller
November 6 - December 11, 2025
Opening Reception Thursday Nov. 6, 5 - 7 p.m.
As an artist and art professor of both drawing, sculpture and foundational design, Kristin Miller seeks to show the progression and experimentation of works inspired by the Florida landscape over time. “Florida Summer” abstractly captures light and reflection using drawing, watercolor, embroidery, cyanotypes and mixed media works on paper. Observational, layered drawings show the power of nature - our native plants and ocean shore providing an armature of quiet curiosity and capturing of diaphanous light. New work, “Sea/Sky: A Meeting Place” includes a paper installation created by the repetitive daily paintings of cloudscapes.
