College Research

The value proposition of research is to, “Turn data into actionable insights.”

We aspire to conduct research supporting innovation and informed improvement advancing strategic effectiveness, student success, and instructional and performance excellence.

The Role of Research

A primary function and service of the Institutional Research and Effectiveness Office is to produce data and actionable information that generates “INSIGHTS” guiding strategic directions and advances student success. We are internal consultants assisting you in the design, administration, facilitation, and analysis of academic and market research.

Our goal is to produce actionable information driving student success, instructional excellence, innovation, and informed improvement. Going forward, our objectives are to ensure continuity and consistency in survey questions, survey methods, tools/software products used, response scales, timelines, etc.

It is also critical to avoid survey fatigue. It is even more important that all research complies with rules and regulations regarding the protection of human subjects. In the end, all research must provide reliable, meaningful, and actionable data which drives continuous improvement, supports innovation for Panther Strong 2023, and provides evidence for SACSCOC reaffirmation.

Research is supported in several ways by the Institutional Research and Effectiveness Office. The College has two official tools supporting research projects:

  1. Qualtrics: This simple to use product is a powerful tool used widely across PBSC and higher education institutions nationally. We will help you to design, administer, and produce reports to meet your survey needs.
  1. Campus Labs Baseline: This is a new product to the College that is part of the integrated Campus Labs platform. The product has some key advantages over Qualtrics. As your project is assessed, we will help determine which tool is best to help achieve your survey goals.
