                                                                          July/31/2015

I do appreciate our student’snomination for “my hero award 2013” and Career Technical Education instructorof the year 2010. Dr. Jairo Garcia has been teaching Anatomy & Physiologyhonors and Pre-Med - Medical Science Academy courses for about 12 (twelve)years; in addition, belong to the adjunct Faculty at Palm Beach State Collegesince 2008. I have been awarded with the wonderful opportunity to teach diversedual enrollment courses such as Anatomy and Physiology I-II, MedicalTerminology and Health Concepts at Medical undergraduate field and Palm Beach StateCollege during the last seven years. In addition, I was nominated for the CareerTechnical Education as the instructor of the year 2010. I do really cares aboutmy students and my academic goal goes above and beyond to help them to learnand succeed; in addition, another target as educator has been to approach thegap with upper level Institutions such as University of Florida (UF), FloridaAtlantic University (FAU) and various other educational venues throughparticipation in diverse medical science academy projects for Upper levelstudents. I do feel fortunate to have the leadership to help and motivate ourstudents towards their goals of becoming either the future “Doctors of America”or outstanding professional in the medical field.

One of my objectives in theCareer Technical Education program and upper level institutions has been tomove toward the college/University academic rank in order to enhance students’achievement and motivate undergraduates for new challenges. In spite of, thelocal schools’ economics problems and other concerns founded by other instructors.professors and our society , my perspective has established a strategy thus far,to meet the criteria of dual enrollment high level students in order to achieveassociate degree at the mean time of high school diploma; therefore, thispathway has been to create a new track in the CTE-Medical Science Academyprogram called Pre-Med Track Honors at PBSD whose high level students’achievements and expectations have been the common denominator in thisoutstanding Institution.

On the other hand, the students have been given the opportunityto work closely with project leaders from upper academic level institution suchas Palm Beach State College, Florida Atlantic University and University ofFlorida as a partnership program. The main areas supported have been oncritical thinking and cognitive skills concerning (interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation). These opportunitieshave shaped significant objectives for students’ achievement improvementsduring 2006-2015 such as: (1) equipping our Medical Science Academy – Pre-MedTrack Honors with knowledge, resources, and experiences to improvebiomedical-science education and increase awareness of scientific processes, technologies, and careers exemplified by critical topics such as the EmergingPathogens and Genetics theme in the past academic years; (2) encouraging mystudents to develop critical thinking skills, hands-on classroom and in-servicetraining with the local community; (3) providing ongoing opportunities andincentives to the Med students in order to participate in learning in benchfield and applied laboratory settings such as the DNA isolation, PCR (ProteinChain Reaction) and Gel Electrophoresis as a method of Genetic Engineering. These great practices have been given during the past academic years; inaddition, preparation for medical science academic research currently in upperlevel courses such as Medical Terminology and Health Concepts. In sum, embracea new perception of health in the new century for our future generation.

Lastly, I just want to express my gratitude to this group ofstudents and administrators who have given me this wonderful award as “myteacher my hero” feeling grateful for such opportunity as foreign MD andmedical professional educator. I do feel confident regarding our multiculturaldiversity students’ population and their academic potential with an invaluableeducational background in our society to bring up the Bio Med field in theupcoming future.
