Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami

Friday & Saturday,
January 20 & 21, 2023 | 8 p.m.

Hailed in The New York Times as “strong, sexy, and athletic”, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, founded in 2016 by former Miami City Ballet principal dancers Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg, offers audiences a fresh and diverse view of contemporary ballet and continues to thrill South Florida audiences and beyond with their infectious cultural vibrancy.

The company will perform a dynamic bouquet of their signature works.

Momix

Friday & Saturday,
February 3 & 4, 2023 | 8 p.m.

Travel down the rabbit hole MOMIX-style with Moses Pendleton's newest creation, ALICE, inspired by Alice in Wonderland. As Alice’s body grows and shrinks and grows again, Pendleton’s dancers extend themselves by means of props, ropes, and other dancers.

As with every Momix production, you never quite know what you are going to get. Audiences will be taken on a journey that is both magical, mysterious, fun, eccentric, and much more. As Alice falls down the rabbit hole and experiences every kind of transformation, so will you.

Alvin Ailey II

Friday & Saturday,
February 17 & 18, 2023 | 8 p.m.

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Founded in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, the company embodies his pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people.

Ailey II has flourished into one of the most popular modern dance companies, Dance Magazine calls Ailey II "second to none," and The New York Times declares, "There's nothing like an evening spent with Ailey II, the younger version of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater."

Malevo

Friday & Saturday,
March 17 & 18, 2023 | 8 p.m.

Malevo – the “South American Sensation” – is a thrilling all-male group that specializes in Malambo—a traditional Argentine folk dance of great virility and dexterity—and takes it beyond its limits with a modern, avant-garde, and transgressive approach, while still staying true to the cultural foundations of this traditional gaucho artform.

Malevo brings live music and virtuosic dancing to the contemporary stage for an exhilarating and engaging show that is perfect for the entire family.

Special Event: Les Ballets Trockadero
De Monte Carlo

Tuesday, January 31, 2023 | 8 p.m.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo was founded in 1974 in the wake of the Stonewall Riots. Early performances were held on the makeshift stage of the NYC LGBTQ rights organization known as the West Side Discussion Group, an offshoot of the groundbreaking Mattachine Society, one of the first LGBTQ rights groups in the US. This historic backdrop has always underscored the Trocks’ commitment to providing a stage for dancers often underrepresented in classical ballet due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, size, social class, race and ethnicity.

As ambassadors of LGBTQ culture and acceptance, the Trocks remain committed to supporting, mentoring, and inspiring the next generation of LGBTQ performers and arts appreciators; supporting LGBTQ elderly and mentoring LGBTQ youth; and serving as an integral link to the history and traditions of LGBTQ performance.  The company’s education and engagement programs allow the Company to extend the work it does on stage and engage communities in reimagining their expectations of ballet performance and its intersection with gender roles and identities.
